MEET THE COACH

Knoxville Endurance specializes in coaching runners, swimmers, and cyclists to meet their goals in distances such as the 5k, 10k, half marathon, marathon, sprint triathlon, olympic distance triathlon, and Ironman triathlon.

Bobby Holcombe

Bobby Holcombe's running career began in 1997 working under the guidance of Dave Nelson, Olympic Marathon Trials qualifier, Knoxville Track Club member and coach. In 2001 Holcombe began training with University of Tennessee Cross Country and Track coach, George Watts. Holcombe trained under the guidance of Coach Watts until 2006. During his competitive years under Coach Watts, Holcombe's running statistics are as follows: 4:00 min.-1,500 meters, 8:31 min.-3,000 meters, 14:53 min.-5k, 25:13 min. -8k, 31:11 min.-10k, 1:09-Half Marathon, and a 2:37-Marathon. During this time frame Holcombe raced in over 200 road, track and cross country races. Holcombe won 75 of the 200 races in which he raced. He has competed in several USATF/RRCA championships cross country and road races. Holcombe has also finished within the top 125 runners at the Boston Marathon.

 

In 2002 Holcombe began coaching area athletes from middle school through master adults. Holcombe has taken on all levels of runners from Couch to 5k participants to elite athletes. To date Holcombe has successfully coached over 500 athletes.

2016 - 57 overall wins by KE athletes at running events

2016 - 18 athletes completed marathons for the first time.

2016 - 26 athletes completed a road race from 5k-Half Marathon for their 1st time.

2014-2016, 5 completed Ironman's by KE athletes

2016 - 12 completed triathlons - Half Ironman and below distances.

2016 - Two top 3 Corporate Challenges Finishes (Radio System and ORNL)

2016 - 264 Personal Record's - Track, Road, XC, Triathlons and Trails.

15 - Complete ultra distances of 50k or above

1 - Western State Qualifier

4 Foot Locker cross-country finalists

18 high school athletes furthering running careers in college

Rhonnda Cloinger

A small-town Arkansan, Rhonnda attended UT-Knoxville to achieve a Masters of Science degree in Exercise Physiology. After her first triathlon in 1990, she was hooked on interdisciplinary athletics! This proud member of the Runner's Market Running Team has had such accomplishments as that of All-American in her age group for triathlons. Currently Rhonnda works as an exercise physiologist in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation.

 

Among her national and international racing accomplishments are the following:

Ironman All World Athlete - Bronze Level for 2016

2011 Boston Marathon competitor

Completed Ironman Florida & Ironman Louisville

Qualifier and competitor in the Worlds Half Ironman Championship in Clearwater, FL

Qualifier for the World's Olympic Distance Championships

Top 5 female finisher in multiple half Ironman's

 

Rhonnda stays current in the fitness/training realm by maintaining the following certifications:

Running Coach: Robin Miller

Running Coach:
Robin Miller

Robin started running for fitness in 2001 at age 39. The long-distance racing bug soon took hold and she ran her first marathon in 2004. Self-coached for many years, she ran three Boston Marathon qualifying races. In 2012, preparing to run the 2013 Boston Marathon, she joined Knoxville Endurance. Under the trained eye of Bobby Holcombe, Robin has consistently improved her 5k through marathon times.

From 2010 to 2012, she assisted in coaching adult runners, and in 2012 started leading group runs for the Foothill Striders. Robin's passion is to help others become stronger runners with a focus on injury prevention.
